Barcelona Moon Team offers cargo to other team’s rovers. News, News (eng)

Barcelona Moon Team is offering flight opportunities in its lander. The team has extra volume and kilograms to offer to teams that were able to develop a lunar rover but have difficulties in completing other necessary phases of the mission.

The team plans to land 30kg of payload on the lunar surface besides its lunar rover. Customers can purchase capacity per kilogram, including all services to integrate it. Most of the cargo (25kg) will be integrated on the lander, while about 5kg will go on the rover.

Those 25 extra kilograms on the lander might be dedicated to other team’s rovers that would be deployed on the lunar surface after the BMT rover. This would not necessarily pose a crucial disadvantage to the team purchasing the slot, and it is something to discuss in a case to case basis with any interested teams in the close meeting in Washington.

However, due to the selected launcher, a Chinese Long March, all payloads will be required to be ITAR free.

Current analysis as shown in the picture chose a default scenario with two rovers under the platform but other possibilities could be studied. Note: this is not the real look of the BMT lunar rover! Coming soon!
