Barcelona Moon Team and the technology transfer in Spain. News, News (eng)

BMT-TECHNOLOGY-TRANSFER-IN-SPAINOne of the unresolved problems in the Spanish research programs is the technology transfer to industries.

There are excellent researchers in Spain, and in the last years there’s been an increasing budget in the research programs that attracted foreign researchers to Spain.

On the other hand the research structures based in the Universities and technology centers haven’t been since the beginning oriented to the technology transfer to industry.

Too many times research achievements only generated papers and curricula to the researchers, and that’s not sustainable. Furthermore, the same researchers do not welcome that private companies take advantage of such achievements for private profit. And even the universities centers do not register.

Obviously there are exceptions to this, when those researchers themselves are the entrepreneurs that bring their idea forward, but even this is not fully foreseen by the contracting system that doesn’t allow government employees (e.g. university researchers) to promote private companies.

It is fundamental that the achievements of excellent research capabilities we have can be transferred to industry where it will generate the necessary return of the investment to keep the process moving.

The Barcelona Moon Team is committed to this and it will work in this direction through its Company Chair at the University.
